Jersey Shore is coming back to MTV

MTV is getting on the revival bandwagon with the relaunch of its iconic reality series, Jersey Shore, set to air in 2018.

The new series, titled Jersey Shore Family Vacation, follows most of the show’s original stars as they set out on a vacation – presumably visiting somewhere with ample access to gyms, tanning beds, and laundry facilities. The show is also rumoured to add family members to the mix, and there’s no doubt that they’ll be bringing drama and plenty of new catchphrases with them.

MTV announced the new series on the official Jersey Shore twitter account during the premiere of the sorta-spinoff Floribama Shore. Beyond the short-and-sweet teaser the network put out, we have few details on the new series. One thing we do know is that almost all the original cast – including Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Jenni “Jwoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino – will be back.

Jersey Shore, which ran from 2009 to 2012, chronicled the outrageous antics of a group of Italian-Americans living it up in New Jersey. Despite a decline in ratings during its final season, the show gave us a couple of spinoffs and a slew of catchphrases. The series was also a worldwide sensation, spawning numerous international incarnations in countries including the UK, Canada, Spain, and Mexico.

One castmate who won’t be back for the trip is Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola. While we can’t confirm the reason for her absence, some are speculating it’s because of the involvement of her ex, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, who is part of the returning cast.
